Museum Photo: North-South Ski Bowl

By Museum of North Idaho | 11/23/2017

The North-South Ski Bowl, 28 miles south of St. Maries, Idaho, was established in 1968.  Located in a small basin at the head of Ramskull Creek, it was the primary training area for WSU and UI intercollegiate ski teams. A U.S. Forest Service chalet was used for a lounge, snack bar and ski shop. Skiers reached the summit with a 1,800-foot platter lift or a rope tow with a 680-foot vertical rise. North-South Ski Bowl was originally owned by WSU.  Alpine skiing was discontinued in the 1990s. The top of the former ski hill is now the home of Palouse Divide Lodge, a private conference and retreat facility. Museum of North Idaho photo Rec-29-20.
